Taking as constraints the target design point performance and gas inlet conditions, VistaCCD performs a meanline design calculation using well-validated empirical relationships for work factor and achievable efficiency, corrected for Reynolds number and tip clearance effects. The user can vary input parameters to optimise performance within specific dimensional constraints, guided by the visual feedback from the efficiency correlation and the 2D sketch of the impeller.
