DEADBLOCK is a free strategy puzzle game where two players battle for territory on an 8×8 grid using pentomino pieces. Think competitive Tetris meets Go — simple rules, deep strategy, and a cyberpunk aesthetic.
Place pentomino pieces to claim territory. Block your opponent into dead zones. Control the board. Win.
🎮 GAME MODES
- Online Multiplayer — Real-time ranked matches against players worldwide. ELO-based matchmaking ensures fair games. Chat, spectate friends, and climb the global leaderboard.
- VS A.I. — Three difficulty levels from beginner to expert. The expert A.I. uses deep search and trap detection to challenge even skilled players.
- Creator Puzzles — 101 hand-crafted puzzles across 4 difficulty tiers (Easy, Intermediate, Hard, Expert). Each puzzle is a unique strategic challenge with the A.I. as your opponent.
- Speed Puzzle — Race against the clock! Solve puzzles fast and build a streak. Every second counts.
- Weekly Challenge — A new puzzle every week shared by all players. Compete for the fastest time on the global weekly leaderboard.
- Generated Puzzles — A.I.-generated board states for endless practice at Easy, Medium, and Hard difficulty.
- 2 Player Local — Pass-and-play on the same device. Challenge a friend face to face.

🧩 WHAT ARE PENTOMINOES?
Pentominoes are shapes made of 5 connected squares — like Tetris pieces but with more variety. There are 12 unique pentomino shapes, each named with a letter (F, I, L, N, P, T, U, V, W, X, Y, Z). Players share the same set and take turns placing them.
🏆 STRATEGY
The goal isn't to fill the most cells — it's to block your opponent from placing any more pieces. Create awkward gaps they can't fill. Save flexible pieces for later. Force them into corners while keeping your options open. Every game plays differently.
