About this app

Dekoplaner is a technically oriented decompression and dive planning tool.
The app is available in English and German and supports both metric (meters) and imperial (feet) units. Pressure is given in bar.

All calculations are performed strictly according to the Bühlmann ZHL-16C model using classical Gradient Factors (GF low / GF high).
The planner intentionally focuses on the essential parameters required for transparent and reproducible decompression calculations. Extended concepts such as oxygen narcosis modeling or oxygen window adjustments are not implemented.

Furthermore, the dive planner features an integrated gas blender for Trimix and Nitrox fills — with Van der Waals pressure correction for maximum precision in high-pressure applications.

Calculation Method
Decompression is not calculated prospectively from predefined stops.
Instead, once the decompression phase begins, the model computes a data point for every second of the dive — comparable to the logic of a dive computer.

All runtime values in the run plan are rounded up for safety.

Default rates:
• Descent: 20 m/min
• Ascent: 10 m/min

Decompression calculation starts only after completion of the defined dive profile.

CCR Mode
In CCR mode:
• Decompression is calculated with the selected O₂ setpoint down to 6 m
• From 6 m upward, a safety setpoint of 0.7 bar is applied
If the setpoint is exceeded, calculations are performed diluent-limited.

Altitude Diving
For altitude diving, calculations are based on the prevailing ambient pressure.
Initial tissue conditions assume sea-level equilibrium without acclimatization, representing a conservative starting condition.

Model Application
Gradient Factors are applied in the classical linear interpolation between GF low and GF high.
For Trimix, tissue supersaturation limits are continuously adapted according to the inert gas composition in each compartment.

Additional Calculations
• Gas volume estimation using an RMV of 20 L/min
• Gas density calculation (warning above 6.2 g/L)
• CNS oxygen toxicity based on NOAA tables
The most recent CCR-specific NOAA recommendations are not yet implemented.

Limitations
Physiologically questionable or impractical dive profiles can be entered.
Warnings are displayed for pO₂ and pN₂ limit violations, but calculations will still be performed.
The selection of a safe and appropriate dive profile remains the responsibility of the user.
