About this app

Detector Trails is the map, field log and community built for metal detectorists and prospectors. Find good ground, keep a record of everything you dig, and share your best finds — all in one app.

DETECT
• One clear map of detectable ground, with sites colour-coded so you can spot open ground at a glance.
• "Ground near you" surfaces detectable spots close by, sorted by distance.
• Filter to your patch — goldfields, beaches, parks, crown land, rivers and creeks — and by ground type: sand, soil, grass or gravel.
• Switch between Streets, Satellite and Terrain, or flip on the Geology layer to read the ground beneath your feet.
• Record a trip to track the ground you've swept. Sessions are private to you.

FIND
• Log every find in seconds — add photos, pick what came up (coin, ring, gold, silver, relic, button, and more), and note depth and the detector you used.
• Build a personal find log you can look back on season after season.

SHARE
• Post your best finds to the community feed.
• Follow other detectorists and see their latest digs in For You and Following.

MORE
• Keep your permit handy — store your Miner's Right or other permit and show it full-screen the moment you're asked.
• Track your progress: finds logged, trips taken and hours out, all in one place.

COVERAGE
Detector Trails works worldwide and is growing fast. We're launching with coverage across Australia — including the Victorian goldfields and bayside beaches — with more regions added all the time.
