The great Egyptian scholar Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud is Mustafa Kamal Mahmoud Hussein Al Mahfouz, from the nobles, and his lineage ends with Ali Zain al-Abidin, may God be pleased with him. He studied medicine and graduated in 1953, specializing in chest diseases, but devoted himself to writing and research in 1960. He is considered one of the most important Egyptian writers and thinkers, who sparked widespread controversy during periods of his life and was accused of atheism more than once. His scientific and research contributions are very great, as he presented a famous television program entitled “Science and Faith” of nearly 400 episodes, which was one of the most important scientific and research programs at his time. He has three medical centers concerned with the treatment of people with limited income, and many of the people of Egypt go to them due to their medical reputation. Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud has dozens of books and intellectual, contemplative, religious and literary works. During his life and as a result of a major problem with writing "Al-Shafa'a", Dr. Mustafa Mahmoud decided to retire from appearing and writing, and in 2003 he became isolated and alone. Mustafa Mahmoud was greatly honored, for his scientific contributions and writers who were taught by hundreds of senior writers from the generation of his students, and he died, may God have mercy on him, on the morning of Saturday, October 31, 2009.
