Basic Chess Terms
Check: The king is under attack and must move, be blocked, or have the attacking piece captured.
Checkmate: The king is in check with no legal escape, ending the game in a win for the attacker.
Stalemate: The player to move has no legal moves and is not in check, resulting in a draw.
