About this app

Dharmam — Daily Hindu Prayer & Spiritual Practice

Dharmam is a serene, temple-inspired companion for your daily sādhanā. Whether you are a lifelong devotee or finding your way back to your roots, Dharmam helps you build a consistent spiritual practice — one day, one verse, one breath at a time.

🙏 DAILY PRAYER (PRARTHANA)

Every morning begins with a 4-step guided prayer flow designed to take you from distraction to devotion in under 3 minutes.

• Set your sankalpa — your intention for the day (शान्ति, भक्ति, कृतज्ञता, and more)
• Receive today's verse from the Bhagavad Gita — not random, but the very next verse in your sequential journey through the scripture
• Chant your deity's mantra — Krishna devotees chant Hare Krishna, Shiva devotees Om Namah Shivaya, and so on. The app honors your path
• Complete the ritual with gratitude, your streak, and a link to read today's verse in full context

Missing the morning is not a failure — the prayer card adjusts its tone through the day with compassion, not guilt.

🧘 DHYANA (MEDITATION)

A full-featured meditation session designed for both beginners and experienced practitioners.

• Choose your duration: 5, 15, or 30 minutes — or set a custom length up to 3 hours
• Guided Breathing mode: a breathing orb leads you through inhale (4s), hold (2s), exhale (4s) with visual and text cues
• Silent mode for self-directed sitting
• Ambient sounds: Temple Bells, River Ganga, Bansuri Flute, Om Chant, Rainfall, or complete silence
• Interval bells at 5 or 10-minute marks to anchor your attention
• Start and end boundary sounds (bell, gong, or Om)
• When the session ends, a completion screen shows your breath cycle count and time offered

📿 JAPA (MALA COUNTER)

An immersive 108-bead counter for your daily mantra repetition.

• Tap anywhere on the bead to count — the entire screen is the target
• Every 108 beads completes a round: gold flash, haptic confirmation, and a floating toast
• Track total beads and rounds across the session
• Session timer starts on your first tap
• Choose from 6 mantras (Om Namah Shivaya, Hare Krishna, Om Namo Narayanaya, and more)
• Haptic feedback toggle for silent settings

📖 SCRIPTURE (LIBRARY & READER)

A calm, parchment-toned reader for unhurried study.

• Sequential daily-verse journey: one verse of the Bhagavad Gita each day, in canonical order from Chapter 1 to Chapter 18 — a pilgrimage, not a playlist
• Full library with Bhagavad Gita, Ramayana (7 Kāṇḍas), and Mahabharata (18 Parvas)
• Each verse displays Sanskrit (Devanagari), transliteration, and meaning
• Bookmark verses, track completed chapters, and resume exactly where you left off
• Adjustable text size (4 scales) for comfortable reading

🎵 SACRED CHANTS

A curated library of 20 sacred chants across 9 deities.

• Filter by deity: Shiva, Vishnu, Rama, Krishna, Hanuman, Ganesha, Devi, Surya, Jagannath
• Featured chant card for each deity with description and duration
• Now Playing bar floats above the navigation so you can chant while browsing
• Mahamrityunjaya Mantra, Hanuman Dhyana Shloka, Vishnu Sahasranama, Lalitha Sahasranama, Surya Gayatri, and more

📅 SACRED CALENDAR

• All 24 Ekadashis for 2026 with their individual names, significance, and observance customs from the Padma Purana
• Major Hindu festivals: Diwali, Holi, Ram Navami, Janmashtami, Navratri, Ratha Yatra, and more
• Full Panchang grid with tithi, festival, and vrat markers
• Set reminders for any Ekadashi or festival — a day-before reminder at 7 PM and a day-of reminder at 8 AM

✨ PERSONALIZATION

Choose your preferred deity in onboarding and the whole app responds:
• Your morning greeting invokes your deity's name in Devanagari
• Your prayer chant matches your path — every single day
• Home recommendations align to your deity's day

🔔 REMINDERS

• Daily morning prayer notification at your chosen time
• Optional evening prayer reminder
• All notifications are local — no account required to set them
