About this app

Which movie did Anna recommend last time? When did your back actually start hurting? What was that little pub in Lisbon called?

DiaryPack is a private diary for the things that matter to you. Write down what happened, who was there, where and how you felt. When you need it, you'll find it in a few seconds. Everything stays encrypted on your phone, you don't need an account, and the app is free.

WRITING TAKES A MOMENT
One sentence is plenty. Date and time fill in by themselves and you can skip the title. Add people, a place on the map, categories and up to ten photos. Your most common emotions are right there, with over a hundred more in the catalog, and you set how strong they were with a swipe. Tiredness, pain or hunger you add separately.

FIND IT WHEN YOU NEED IT
Search finds anything in your text, people and places, and you can filter memories by emotion. Every person has a page with all your memories together, when you last saw each other and how you usually feel around them. Categories work the same way, so you can keep track of trips, symptoms or anything else you want to follow.

LOOKING BACK
The strip at the top shows how each day felt, and the A year ago card brings back what happened exactly a year ago.

WHAT YOU WRITE STAYS WITH YOU
• Everything is stored on your phone. The database is encrypted with AES-256 (SQLCipher) and the key is held by Android Keystore.
• Apart from the map, the app works offline. The only thing it downloads is map tiles from OpenStreetMap, when you open a map.
• Lock your diary with a PIN or your fingerprint.
• No account, no ads, no analytics, no third-party crash reporting.
• Export the whole diary to a file encrypted with a password you choose, and restore it on another phone.

NO PRESSURE
No streaks, badges or points. Write when you feel like it; skipping a few days is fine. If you want, the app can remind you at a time you choose, and it stays quiet on days you've already written.
A private journal: write down what matters to you and find it when you need it.
