About this app

Step off the ship and into the story.

Alaska Audio Guide was built by an Alaskan — born and raised in Southeast Alaska — not a faceless app company copying Wikipedia. It's your pocket-sized local handing you the trails, secrets, and history the crowded tour buses blow right past. Whether you want the perfect Juneau shore excursion or a quiet self-guided walking tour, your phone's got you (and your money stays in the local economy where it belongs).

Ditch the rigid schedules, the herd of strangers, and the robotic narrators. Our GPS-triggered stories play automatically as you walk into each spot — phone in your pocket, glacier in your face — bringing Alaska's history, lore, and wild places to life at your exact pace.

🎧 STORIES THAT FIND YOU
Walk, hike, or drive into a GPS zone and the audio just… starts. Hands-free. Prefer to read? Clean transcripts for every stop. Exploring with international friends? Instant multilingual translations.

📵 NO SIGNAL? NO PROBLEM.
Mendenhall Glacier, the Tongass — the cell service goes to die out there. Once downloaded, everything works flawlessly with zero bars. Smart, selective downloads save your storage, the app warns you before you hit a trail without your offline maps, and cached weather tells you what the trail's about to do to you.

THE ALASKA FIELD GUIDE (WILDLIFE LOG)
Keep a one-tap wildlife sighting log right in your pocket for 16 Alaska species, ranging from bald eagles to orcas. The app counts every sighting, lets you optionally tag the location, attaches photos, and builds your personal explorer stats. Taking a driving tour? A passenger-mode quick-log features big tap targets for easy tracking. Your privacy is absolute: sighting locations are stored only on your device and physically cannot be transmitted. This feature is 100% free for everyone, with no account or purchase required.

YOUR DIGITAL PASSPORT & JOURNAL
Collect a stamp for each city you explore, organized just like pages in a real passport. You can also curate a private photo journal built right into the app. When you're ready to brag, generate a shareable certificate showing your completed tour, date, stops, time, and earned badges.

🗺️ THE EXPLORER'S TOOLKIT
We strip the map clutter and show what actually matters: free vs. paid parking, Wi-Fi hotspots, cultural landmarks, and yes — restrooms (flush, pit, or porta-john) with one-tap routing. Filter tours by duration, difficulty, transport type, and "rain friendly."

🏆 EARN YOUR TREASURES
Collect digital completion badges and unlock hidden "treasures" for actually showing up to the points of interest. Then go find the off-the-beaten-path trails the bus crowds never will.

⚓ MORE PORTS INCOMING
Juneau's live now, with every major Southeast Alaska cruise port being built and added regularly. We also have popular drives in Alaska like the Seward Highway & Sterling Highway ready to go as well!

Try it free today. Download for a free introductory tour and find out why this is the best way to experience the Last Frontier. Premium tours available via in-app purchase.

Great interactive app. I like the way it gives you history of what you're looking at describing how the glacier got its name. And what the locals call it. I would highly recommend this app if you're going to visit Alaska. it will definitely help you find some unique history. And things to look at while there.

I enjoyed this tour app. The narrator had a great voice that was entertaining and easy to understand. Each stop had a lot of great historical information and I learned a lot that I would have never heard without the tour, which makes sense since it was written by a local.

Very interesting app as it is chock full of interesting and quirky Juneau and Alaskan history. The narrator has an easy and engaging voice which held my attention. I found great detail in the trail information and map, making it easier to pick out the hike I wanted to try.
