DinoMilo is an educational game in Spanish designed for children ages 4 to 8. I made it as a dad, at home, for my son Milo: a quiet app, without noise, ads, or tricks.
The idea is simple. Ten short activities to practice first letters, numbers, colors, and handwriting, with narration in Spanish and stars earned upon completing each challenge.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
• Learning: letters, numbers, and syllables, with audio in Spanish.
• Counting: counting from 1 to 50 with visual support.
• Addition: basic addition with small amounts.
• Colors: recognizing and naming colors.
• Letters: identifying and matching letters of the alphabet.
• Writing: tracing letters and numbers on the screen with a finger.
• Words: forming short words by combining letters and syllables.
• Memory: a memory game with pairs of images.
• Shapes: recognizing basic geometric shapes.
• Draw: a free canvas for drawing and painting without rules.
DESIGNED FOR FAMILY PEACE OF MIND
• No ads of any kind.
• No in-app purchases.
• No accounts, no registration, and no personal information requested.
• No personalized advertising or tracking.
• Drawings, strokes, and progress are saved only on the device.
WORKS OFFLINE
After the first time you open it, DinoMilo works without internet access. The only time a connection is used is initially to download the Google ML Kit handwriting recognition model. From then on, stroke recognition is done on the device, and the app can be used in airplane mode, in the car, in a waiting room, or wherever needed.
HOW IT'S MADE
The texts, narration, and instructions are in Spanish. The narration uses the Android system voice, so it's best to have the Spanish voice installed in your phone or tablet settings.
The interface uses large buttons, flat colors, and few screens, so a four-year-old can navigate it independently after one or two guided sessions. There are no hidden menus, complicated settings screens, or buttons that take you outside the app.
Earned stars are saved on the device and allow the child to track their progress. There's no ranking, no competition against others, and nothing that encourages playing longer than the family wants.
FOR PARENTS AND TEACHERS
DinoMilo complements what is already being taught in preschool and the early grades: letter and number recognition, counting, basic addition, stroke writing, and vocabulary. It serves as short, repeated practice sessions of five or ten minutes, rather than a long session.
The free drawing activity has no instructions or corrections: it's simply a space for drawing.
ABOUT THE DEVELOPMENT
DinoMilo is a personal project by an independent developer in Argentina. It's free and not monetized in any way. If you find a bug, if something isn't clear, or if you'd like to suggest a new activity, please email me: I read every message carefully.
Thanks for trying it out.
