About this app
Khayal keeps track of a parent's medicines so you don't have to hold it all in your head. It is not a medical device, gives no medical advice and never suggests a dose — it records what you enter and reminds you of it, on time.
Built for the person doing the looking after, not for a patient managing their own pills.
REMINDERS THAT ACTUALLY ARRIVE
A reminder that does not fire is worse than no reminder, because by then you have stopped watching the clock. Khayal sets alarms to the exact minute, re-arms them after a restart, and walks you through the battery settings that Xiaomi, Redmi, Oppo, Vivo, Realme, OnePlus, Samsung and Honor phones use to close background apps. Then it offers to prove it: send yourself a test reminder, lock the phone, and see whether it arrives.
MARK A DOSE IN ONE TAP
Given or skipped, straight from the notification, the home screen widget, or the Today list. Khayal records when you tapped, not when the dose was due — the difference is the part a doctor finds useful. Skipping never asks you why.
MEDICINES, WRITTEN DOWN PROPERLY
Name, strength, form and the times of day. Every day, alternate days, or chosen weekdays. Before food, after food or empty stomach. A start date and a course length. Attach a photograph of the actual strip, so whoever stands in for you knows which of the six white tablets is which.
REFILL COUNTDOWN
Enter how many are in the box. Khayal counts down as doses are marked and warns you before the strip runs out, allowing for how often the medicine is actually taken — a twice-weekly injection with four left is a fortnight, not two days.
VITALS, WITHOUT OPINIONS
Blood pressure, sugar, weight, temperature and SpO₂, entered by hand, shown as a trend. Khayal never tells you whether a reading is normal. That is the doctor's job and this app does not pretend otherwise.
THE DOCTOR CHART
One page for the consultation: which medicines were taken in which part of the day over the last week, fortnight or month, with the range and average of each vital reading. Export it as a PDF, print it or send it ahead. It turns "he's been taking them, mostly" into something a doctor can actually read.
READ A PRESCRIPTION
Photograph a prescription and Khayal pulls out what looks like medicine names, strengths and 1-0-1 timings, so day one is checking rather than typing. Every suggestion is shown to you before anything is saved, because handwriting is guesswork.
HAND OVER TO A SIBLING
Going away for a fortnight? Export the whole record as one file, send it over any chat app, and whoever takes over carries on from where you left off.
EVERYONE YOU LOOK AFTER
Separate profiles with their own medicines, readings and history. Both parents belong here, and it costs nothing.
LARGE MODE
One switch makes everything bigger and reduces Today to what to take now, so you can hand the phone to the patient.
APP LOCK
Optional fingerprint or screen lock before anything is shown.
WHAT KHAYAL DOES NOT DO
No account. No sign-up. No cloud sync. Nothing you type is uploaded — not medicine names, not readings, not prescription photographs, which are read on the phone and then deleted. Khayal shows ads to pay for itself, so it does need a connection for those, and ads here are always non-personalised. They never appear on the Today screen, in a notification, or on the doctor chart.
There is no Pro version, nothing to unlock and no subscription. Ads pay for the app.
