Michael: Archangel of the Sun

About this app

Michael is a companion for the Sun's day and the Sun's hours, built around the archangel whose name asks, "Who is like God?"

THE SUN ARC DIAL
A half-circle runs from today's sunrise to sunset, divided into the twelve planetary hours of daylight, with the night hours mirrored beneath. The Sun's own hours are gilded, and a small sun walks the arc in real time while a countdown tells you how long until Michael's next hour opens or how long the current one has left.

WHERE IS THE SUN?
An unrolled horizon panorama shows the Sun's true compass direction and altitude, computed on your phone, with its full 24-hour path traced in gold.

THE TABLE OF THE SUN
Agrippa's 6×6 magic square of the Sun (every line sums to 111) drawn as a gold plate, with the names Michael, Nakhiel and Sorath traced over it letter by letter. Gematria and the reduction steps are shown so you can check every line.

MORNING SHIELD
A dawn prayer and a daily "shield raised" check-in with a streak counter that also appears on the Shield widget.

THE SCALES
A reflective journal: weigh the day's burden against its grace on animated balance scales and add a line for Michael. Entries stay on your phone.

WORD AND LORE
Original prayers for sunrise, the Sun's hour and sunset; King James scripture from Daniel, Jude, Revelation and the Psalms; and clearly sourced lore — Daniel and 1 Enoch, the Heptameron's Sunday, Trithemius's ages of the world, Agrippa's correspondences, and the feasts of Michaelmas and the Synaxis. Where traditions disagree (some old books give the Sun to Raphael), the app says so.

HOME-SCREEN WIDGETS
• Shield (2×2): a gold heater shield with your streak and the next Sun hour.
• Sun Arc (4×2): a miniature sunrise-to-sunset arc with a live countdown.
Each widget has its own opacity slider, from fully transparent to solid.

ALERTS
Optional notification when the Sun's hour begins, with quiet hours. Alerts survive restarts.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No ads, no subscriptions, no accounts, no tracking and no internet permission. Location is optional and approximate; otherwise choose from a list of cities.

Planetary hours and angelic correspondences are presented as historical tradition and personal devotion, not as prediction.
