The Dryades Project of the Department of Life Sciences at the University of Trieste has created more than 600 interactive guides to plants, animals, and fungi. Stand-alone mobile apps have also been developed for around fifty of these, but these tend to have a rather short lifespan, as they don't always work after operating system updates. For this reason, we created 'KEYtoNATURE', a reader that allows you to download any guide produced by the Dryades Project to a mobile device, transforming it into a stand-alone application. Users simply connect to the Internet, select one of the available guides from the archive (using the 'language' filter or a keyword, if desired), and download it to their device. The app then works without an internet connection. Download time also depends on the number of species included in a guide and tends to decrease with the number of guides downloaded. Downloading the first guide may take several minutes.
The first version of 'KEYtoNATURE' provides 100 guides, large and small, to vascular plants.
