About this app

CarKey is your car's wallet: the dates you can't afford to forget, the documents you need when you least expect it, and the spot where you left the car. All on this phone, with no account.

THE DATES, WITH REMINDERS THAT LAND
Road tax, roadworthiness test, insurance, gas cylinder test. Enter the date once and CarKey warns you in time — not on the day itself, when it is already too late, but with the weeks you need to book the test or compare quotes.

Done it? The notification takes you straight to the date: one tap to record it, and where the rule is known the next date is worked out for you. Where it isn't, CarKey asks for the one on the certificate.

And twice a year, the tyre-change reminder, before the queue at the fitter's.

THE RULES OF 44 COUNTRIES, CHECKED ONE BY ONE
"Four years, then every two" is not the European rule: it is a minimum, and almost every country tightens it. Germany's first test is at three years, Croatia's at two, and Sweden later moves to every fourteen months. In half of Europe the cycle restarts from the day the test was done, not from first registration.

CarKey knows those rules for forty-four countries, taken from the legislation itself. Where it doesn't know them, it doesn't invent them: it asks for the date and remembers it. And when it does propose a date, it tells you why — because a wrong date is worse than no date at all.

YOUR DOCUMENTS, FULL SCREEN
Registration papers, insurance certificate, accident report form. Photograph them once and they stay here, behind your fingerprint or face. If you get pulled over they open in two taps: screen at full brightness, swipe from one document to the next, no signal needed. They are photographs: keep the paper originals with you, as always.

IF YOU HAVE AN ACCIDENT
Insurer, policy number, policyholder, claims phone number: in big type, ready to read out to the other driver. Thirty seconds copied down calmly today, for the moment when you can't search for anything.

WHERE I PARKED, AND HOW LONG IS LEFT
The spot, a photo, the garage level. And if you fed the meter, write down the time: the alert arrives ten minutes before, with the time and the place inside it. CarKey reads your location only when you ask it to, never in the background.

TAKE OUT WHAT YOU NEED
Your dates in the phone's calendar, in a file you can re-export without duplicating events. The summary on a sheet of paper, for the glovebox or for someone who doesn't want the app.

IT ALL STAYS HERE
No account, no server, no ads, no analytics. What you write never leaves this phone: it is excluded even from system backups. The trade-off is honest, and better known up front: lose the phone and you lose what was on it.

SIX LANGUAGES
English, Italian, French, German, Spanish, Japanese. The app follows your phone's language, and dates are written the way they are written there.

COMPLETELY FREE
Unlimited cars, unlimited documents, unlimited reminders. There is nothing to buy and nothing to unlock.

CarKey does not open any vehicle and does not talk to your car: it remembers dates and keeps your documents.

At the bottom of Settings, five taps on the version number open CarKey Classic: the app's first version, a toy remote with three sounds and a keyring with your photo. It does not communicate with any vehicle.
