Dorti Box is a waste collection software application owned by Freetown Waste Transformers (FWT) SL Limited - an integrated waste-to-energy company based out in Freetown, Sierra Leone. FWT is using anaerobic digestion technology to convert organic waste to energy and fertilizer and requires fresh household organic waste to do so. In order to scale its waste-to-energy Project, FWT needs to work across the waste management value chain to ensure that the organic waste feedstock required is readily available on a daily basis for the digesters. And this requires a process that must be automated and streamlined across the waste management value chain, from sorting, and collection to disposal; and the DortiBox App is a key part of that process.

The mobile application aims to allow households to easily access waste collection services across the City and as well enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the waste collection service providers, while at the same time providing FWT with real-time data on waste streams, locations of waste collectors, daily volumes of waste collected, and the composition of organic waste volumes, in view of the Company’s strategic goal of scaling its waste to energy project in Freetown.
