The game is fun, but the controls will get you killed often. It's not like they're bad, either. They're made well for a game that wasn't originally designed for smartphones. The thing is, enemies will attack you from anywhere, so when you have a thumb taking up space on your screen, you'll be left vulnerable to incoming enemy projectiles from certain angles. The game and its sequel are dirt cheap, so if you can adjust to the controls, then you're in for a treat.

Really enjoyed R-Type in the 80's the controls as mentioned obscure part of the screen and you get killed by enemies from behind. My biggest complaint is that when I drift back it places me at the front of the screen. Seems to be a glitch. There was no wrap around in the original game and is super annoying in this version. The graphics and sound identical to the original game. I still enjoy, but could be better.

I love r type and this version is not bad. I do wish there was some in-between with the controls. It gives you either an oversized d pad which is horrible as you'd expect, or a much better touch control scheme where the ship follows your finger motion. The second option seems more viable, but it actually changes the gameplay since it gives your ship infinite speed. Why they did this I don't know, it makes it weird and hacky to play since I'm used to the movement speed of the ship.
