Kerbie is a live map of kerbside finds. When someone spots a sofa, a working
appliance, kids' gear or anything else worth saving on the verge, they photograph
it where it stands and neighbours nearby get a notification. Whoever picks it up
marks it collected, and the pin comes down for everyone.

HOW IT WORKS
• Browse the map — each pin is a photo, taken in the app at the item itself
• Fresh finds are ringed green, then fade to amber and grey as they age
• Posts expire after 24 hours, so the map reflects what is still out there
• Tap a pin for the photo, the distance from you, and comments from neighbours
• Search by what you are after — sofa, tools, kids' gear, garden, tiles
• Mark something collected when you take it, so the next person doesn't drive
out for nothing

WHAT KEEPS THE MAP HONEST

Some of this the servers enforce on everyone, and some of it the app asks of you
when you post. They are not the same thing, so here is which is which.

Enforced by Kerbie's servers:
• You have to be there to claim something. Marking an item collected is refused
unless you are within 100 metres of the pin.
• Pins do not linger. A post expires after 24 hours on its own, and three
consecutive "Gone" votes from neighbours take it down sooner.
• Posting is capped on the server — three an hour, ten a day per account.

What the app asks of you when you post:
• Camera only — there is no gallery picker anywhere in Kerbie, so the photo is
taken through the app, at the item.
• Kerbie will not publish unless your phone is within 200 metres of where the
photo was taken, and the photo is less than 10 minutes old.

The photo's own location becomes the pin. There is no typing an address.

NOTIFY ME
Set one circle around where you live and choose how wide it reaches, up to 50 km.
When something lands inside it you get a notification. Quiet hours keep the
alerts to daytime.

SAYING THANKS
Posters can add a PayID if they want to. Anyone who collects one of their finds
sees it and can send a voluntary thank-you from their own banking app. Kerbie
never processes payments, takes no cut, and works exactly the same if you never
add one.

WHAT KERBIE DOES NOT DO
No advertising. No selling your data. No payments handled inside the app.

WHERE IT WORKS
Kerbie is starting on Sydney's North Shore — Ku-ring-gai, Willoughby, North
Sydney and surrounds — where council clean-up weeks put a lot of usable
furniture on the verge.

Every clean-up week, tonnes of workable furniture and appliances go to landfill
because nobody who wanted them knew they were there. Kerbie is a way of telling
the neighbours.
