OctoChat is a private, end-to-end encrypted team chat for people who refuse to hand their conversations to someone else's cloud.

Every message, every file, every reaction is sealed with keys that never leave your device. No server, not even your own, can read what your team writes.

REAL ENCRYPTION, NOT A MARKETING SLIDE

OctoChat derives your identity from a 12-word BIP-39 recovery seed into modern Ed25519 and Kyber keys. Messages are encrypted per-room with rotating space keyrings. Your seed is stored in the secure enclave, never transmitted. If you lose your phone, your 12 words get you back in: nothing else.

Organise your workspace into Spaces, private or public, each with as many channels as you need. Group channels into collapsible categories, pin important messages, react with emoji, and reply in threaded conversations without cluttering the main feed.

Build automations that run on a schedule : hourly, daily, weekly, or on a custom cron powered by an on-device LLM with access to channel tools. Summaries, digests, reminders, bots: all processed locally, all encrypted end-to-end.

Pair a second device with a QR code and PIN seal: no account password, no email. Messages you send while offline queue automatically and flush the moment you reconnect. Your channel list and recent messages are cached locally so the app is usable without a signal.

OctoChat syncs against a Starfish server you control. Self-host it on your own infrastructure or use a provider you trust. The protocol is open: spaces, rooms, and keyrings are stored as authenticated, verifiable documents, no lock-in.
