About this app

All musicians, professional or amateur, experts or beginners, need Tanpura or Shruti box for the practice and performance of Indian music.
Though sometimes people prefer Shruti box or electronic Tanpura for the ease of use and convenience, it is well known that there is no real substitute for the beautiful resonating sound of a real Tanpura.
At Dreamtones Inc., leveraging years of experience with music, signal processing and developing professional quality mobile applications, we have created with passion, this Dhwani Tanpura professional application.
The application has been designed and carefully tuned to accurately reproduce the sound of an original Tanpura instrument, including its beautiful tone, resonance and overtones. The professional instrument quality sounds of this application, simple but advanced customization options and professional level signal processing settings, sets this application apart from other such apps available today.
Scroll left or right to choose different pitch settings. In settings, use different Tanpura types (Mellow vs Deep), different pluck styles (Soft vs Medium), different middle notes (Pa, Ma, Ni 1, Ni 2). To fine tune, you can fine tune the pitch with a resolution of 10 cents, also independently fine tune the pitch for Pa / Ma / Ni. You can also change the tempo of string pluck and adjust the global volume or reduce the pa / ma / ni volume, relative to the global volume.
Default lets the app run in the background, so you start a recording app if required while this is playing in the background.

As of version 18.1,
Enhancements
* Improved and further fine tuned Tanpura sounds
* Advanced Tanpura tuning options
Middle note tuning choices:
Equal temperament tuning (standard tuning system used in modern music)

Option to choose Tanpura master tune
A4=440 Hz (Standard pitch used in modern music
A4=432Hz (An alternative natural frequency pitch standard)
* Additional "None" option for the middle note

A few other fixes.

Edit, 7/2019: Thank you for the fine-tuning pitch adjustment! Now I can dial in the "magic C#" ;) Been playing the "vocal Tambura" for 15 years, love the sound quality of this app. In addition to singing practice, I use it for my personal Naad Yoga meditation practice, teaching Yoga, and to facilitate sound-healing meditation groups (Nice sound, but the fine tuning function only allows 10 cent increments. Devs, fix that and you have a very useful app which I could reccomend to students:))

Best Tampura sound, provides a lot of options to adjust pitch, tempo, volume, etc., best suited for students and artists. There is a slight delay while changing pitch, taking time to load. This can be looked into.

Sounds really great and authentic! It does need some improvements though: 1. The pause button should stop tanpura slowly/gradually, not abruptly. While listening to this tanpura, one is in a different zone. Sudden stop doesn't feel good. Even basic Tanpura droid has this thing taken care. 2. The tempo should have option to be slowed down even further. The slowest tempo is not slow enough... neither for meditation nor vilambit laykari. 3. Middle note is missing Dha/ komal dha and other imp notes.
