About this app

DriveFiler requires a DriveFiler account and a Google Drive, OneDrive or Dropbox account. Your documents are stored in your own cloud drive, not on our servers.

WHAT IT DOES

Every household accumulates documents that arrive as PDFs and then go nowhere: bank statements, utility bills, insurance policies, tax slips, receipts, pay stubs. DriveFiler gives each one a meaningful name and files it into a folder structure you define, in the cloud drive you already use.

You tell DriveFiler who the document is from, which account it belongs to, and what kind of document it is. It works out the rest: the folder, the file name, and where it belongs alongside everything else you have filed. Often it can read most of that from the file's existing name, so the form arrives mostly filled in.

SCAN PAPER, IMPORT PDFS

Scan a paper document with your phone's camera, page by page, with the edges straightened, and it arrives as a PDF in your Inbox. Or import a PDF you already have. On OneDrive and Dropbox you can also drop a file straight into the DriveFiler Inbox folder from any device and DriveFiler picks it up.

FIND DOCUMENTS BY BROWSING, NOT SEARCHING

On OneDrive and Dropbox, which we recommend, the folders and file names are meaningful, so your archive stays navigable in your cloud drive's own app, on any device, with or without DriveFiler.

On Google Drive it works differently: DriveFiler keeps your library in Google's private application storage, which Drive does not display. Everything inside DriveFiler works the same, and an export puts a browsable copy in your My Drive whenever you want one. If browsing your filed documents in your drive matters to you, use OneDrive or Dropbox.

YOUR DOCUMENTS STAY YOURS

DriveFiler stores the categorization you build (vendors, accounts, document types, owners, tags) and never the documents themselves. On OneDrive and Dropbox, DriveFiler can reach only its own folder and nothing else in your drive.

If you stop using DriveFiler, your documents stay exactly where they are, named and filed, in your own account. You can export your categorization to a spreadsheet at any time.

What’s new

Google Drive now keeps your documents in Google's private app storage, so DriveFiler can no longer see anything else in your Drive. Use Overview / Settings > Export to Google Drive for a browsable copy whenever you want one. OneDrive and Dropbox are unchanged.

Also new: pull down on the Inbox or Cabinet to refresh, and Check and repair can now put a missing file back from the copy already on your device.
