About this game

Play with blocks like it's 1989! A handheld brick puzzle game with a dot-matrix display, retro sound effects, and that satisfying feeling of getting better without noticing.

Block 89 is designed around flow - the difficulty rises gradually across 20 levels, keeping you in that sweet spot where the challenge matches your skill. Easy to pick up, hard to put down.

Features:
- Dot-matrix LCD screen with authentic pixel rendering
- Light and dark mode (monochrome inverted, a minimal masterpiece)
- 8-bit sound effects
- 10 different block shapes on a 16×16 grid
- 20 levels of progressively increasing difficulty
- GIF replay sharing - show off your best games
- No ads. No in-app purchases. No subscriptions. No internet required. Just the game.

Score points by completing lines with blocks. Simple - but it gets difficult quickly.

Oh, and yes: this is the same guy that brought you Snake '97.

Cheers from Amsterdam,
Willem.

Well, it's great, I love the old school interface, the button controls are a nice touch but it has a few things that bug me.. There should be a little bit of delay when the blocks land so that we can move them left or right to fit under another block. Having a steep speed increment without this delay makes it just hard to control instead of being challenging. When the blocks are pushed left and right and start to fall, if they touch a block on the way, they get stuck there so you've basically lost without being able to move the blocks at all. Sometimes the down button gets stuck and the game ends because everything falls without you being able to control the blocks anymore and you lose. I would love to see you fix at least the falling bug, because this is actually better than some other similar games on the market.

I love Tetris a lot and this app is great. My one problem is that sometimes a key will stick and so all the blocks will shoot to one side or fall fast. This can ruin games that are going well. This happens rarely enough and doesn't last too long so usually the games are salvageable.
