In 1947, Dasharathi Sahu began selling silver ornaments by going to local markets and nearby villages. This work was later continued by his two sons, Krupasindhu Sahu and Gandaram Sahu. Through their humble personalities, they built strong relationships with people. Gandaram would sell silver ornaments in local markets and nearby villages. They worked in the market five days a week and spent the remaining two days for manufacturing silver ornaments at home.

In 1955, Gandaram Sahu took charge of the business. With the support of his family and father, Gandaram expanded the business to include gold jewellery. However, in 1965, the business faced a downturn. To address this, the government announced a stipend for local jewellery businessmen, which helped the business recover and eventually flourish. During this period, Gandaram established a strong reputation in the local market.

OInitially, Gandaram’s three sons—Ainthu Sahu, Kanhei Lal Sahu, and Subal Sahu—assisted him in the business. In 1972, Kanhei Lal Sahu took over the business from his father. In 1995, Sanjay Kumar Sahu, the only son of Kanhei Lal Sahu, assumed control of the business. With the help of a few manufacturers, the business continued to grow. Today, it is known as Srigandaram Jewellers & Sons.
