I love the Cook'n desktop program, and waited patiently for the Android app. My entire purpose for buying the program was to have an easily-accessible recipe program to use while in the kitchen. I added several new recipes yesterday, and when I tried to sync my tablet and pc versions the sync not only failed but I have now lost my entire cookbook on the tablet. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the app multiple times, run the sync, and still not recovered my cookbook. This is NOT acceptable. My cookbook has only about 25-30 recipes, not a large database at all. I don't understand why this is so difficult. PLEASE FIX THIS PROBLEM! (And yes, I have the most recent version installed...the one that was supposed to correct the database migration issue. ) So, I finally (after the most recent, i.e. April 2015, update) got my app to sync and have recovered my cookbook, with all recipes intact. So what happens now? Every time I try to edit an ingredient the app crashes. Still not happy. The problem seems to have been resolved with the most recent update. My five-star rating will remain as long as things continue to work! Thank you! So here we go again. New version, old problem. Capture a new recipe...the app crashes! Edit (or actually only get as far as attempting to edit) a recipe...the app crashes! I'm getting pretty tired of seeing "Unfortunately, Cook'n has stopped." There goes that five-star rating.
I have used the product over 10 years, I'll see how I like it at 4.95 per month
Not happy. I've been a long time user of the Cook'n software. The last version I purchased was sold with the ability to sync to your phone and it would integrate with Pinterest which Pinterest never worked. Later, they started to charge a ridiculous $4.95 a month. Bait and switch.
I originally gave this app 5 stars. When I purchased this program, included in the price was the cookn cloud sync feature. This is the program I purchased. Now after purchase, this feature is no longer included? Now to use what I previously paid for, I must shell out money for a monthly premium subscription. Talk about bait and switch. Talk about a contract change. This is WRONG!. If a new purchase has this as a term of purchase, so be it. But to now stick it to loyal customers who purchased this. WRONG!! The developers response just shows more of his shenanigans. I BOUGHT the desktop cooking app and he knows it since he asked for reviews. Shame on him!! Save yourself much aggravation and get one of the 10 highest rated recipe programs, of which Cook'n is NOT one of them. This guy will not honor his commitments. He would rather blame his clients.
The free option doesn't permit sync, but the subscription options offer scanning and sync, as well as very responsive tech support at the top level. Sync is really worthwhile as it makes this app so much more powerful in tandem with your desktop version of Cook'n (all included in the one package subscription) Cook'n is easily the most versatile, flexible, powerful and full function recipe manager on the market. I just can't justify spending $15 a month when there are $15 a year alternatives After two months, hoping the developer would honour his commitment to provide the support I had paid for, I've come to the realisation that, unless you are actually paying him the monthly subscription, you are on your own. So much for his claims! This is a great app, spoiled by the money hungry antics of the owner. If you want the best, and don't mind paying a hefty fee, look no further than Cook'n. There are plenty of cheaper apps, even free ones, that will do much of what Cook'n does so well.
No Pintrest Sad that I'm not able to get all the recipes I've pinned. Still having trouble getting all devices to talk. Great concept but it's been a challenge for years that I have had it.
