Earshot Detector is the app for the spare phone you leave at home. It listens for the sounds your
household chose (a smoke alarm, the doorbell, the dog) and when it hears one, everyone in the household gets an alert in the Earshot Alerts app on their own phone.
Set it up in a few minutes: install it on the old phone, scan the pairing code shown in Earshot Alerts, and leave the phone plugged in where the sound happens. The screen can be off. If it stops listening (unplugged, no Wi-Fi, closed), your household is told within 10 minutes.
Private by design: sound is analysed on the phone itself and never recorded or sent. Only the fact that one of your sounds was heard, when, and how sure the detector was, reaches the server.
You need the Earshot Alerts app on your own phone (Android or iPhone) to create a household and choose the sounds. Earshot needs an Earshot Household subscription, which covers the whole household and
all its detectors; it is bought in Earshot Alerts, and nothing is sold in this one.
An extra pair of ears, not a fire alarm: Earshot can miss a sound, and a phone can lose power or Wi-Fi. Keep your smoke alarms, and any monitored alarm service you have.
