Systemic autoimmune diseases (SAD) are highly complex and heterogeneous diseases in all the dimensions on which the practice of medicine is based to identify and characterize a disease (epidemiological, clinical, diagnostic, evolutionary). Its diagnosis requires a high degree of clinical experience and multidisciplinary diagnostic support.
Historically, and as they are multi-organ diseases, the phenotype of each SAD is determined by a combination of different affected organs, with patterns of frequency and association that differ from one disease to another. After clinical suspicion, the application of specific diagnostic techniques, together with the detection of analytical and immunological alterations, complete the EAS workup.
The heterogeneity of SAD originated from their first descriptions the need to have a list of the main manifestations of each EAS that facilitates diagnostic suspicion. They are criteria established by a consensus of international experts in each SAD so that the diagnostic rules are the same wherever they are applied. This is how the criteria initially baptized as “diagnostics” and which are currently considered “classificatory” were born. The classification criteria allow the diagnosis of a specific SAD to be identified with high sensitivity and specificity (usually greater than 90%). As it does not reach 100%, it is preferred to avoid the term 'diagnostic criteria' since they do not cover the most unusual clinical presentations of SAD.
It is a pleasure to present this application that allows you to quickly and easily assess compliance with the classification criteria of the main Systemic autoinmune diseases, a project developed by wikiGEAS® with the endorsement of the EAS working group (GEAS) of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine. (SEMI) and the University of Barcelona. It is not a diagnostic confirmation application, which should be carried out by SAD specialists, and it does not contain all the details and nuances of the respective publications, so we always recommend reading it. Its main value and utility is to apply a first assessment of compliance with criteria that helps to identify which is the main suspected Systemic autoinmune diseases.
