About this app

WhatsVegan helps you find vegan products while shopping, by scanning the product ingredient lists and informing you whether something is vegan or not.

It's pretty simple - you take a photo of a product ingredient list, and we mark the ingredients based on their source, which is plant based or animal based. We also provide a general vegan rating based on all ingredients in a given product. Regardless of whether you're vegan or vegeterian, our food scanner is the best tool to find out which ingredients are suitable for you.

FEATURES:
• Vegan scanner that scans ingredients, not barcodes - all products work
• Use camera directly, or import pictures from gallery
• Descriptions of food ingredients - learn more about the food you eat
• Family sharing - one subscription, multiple users
• Easily share products anywhere

CUSTOMER REVIEWS:
"You are amazing, this has saved me so much time when grocery shopping!"
"It's been a great tool since starting my journey! You take a pic of the nutrition/ingredients, and it'll warn you of anything questionable or not vegan."
"This app has been great for our newly vegan family"
"It really helped me grocery shopping today"
"It's amazing! I'm in love"
"Use a vegan app when you go shopping, I use WhatsVegan"

We're different from other food scanners - they scan barcodes, and we scan ingredients directly, which solves the problem of missing products.

Our food scanner is useful not only for seasoned vegans, but also for people gradually cutting out animal products from their diet, people with dietary restrictions, or for people on vegetarian diet. WhatsVegan, just like HappyCow or Barnivore, is a must-have for everyone trying to reduce animal suffering.

To indicate which ingredients are vegan and which are not, we've building a database of over 49000 food items divided into three categories - vegan, non-vegan, and possibly non-vegan.

To access paid features, consider purchasing WhatsVegan Premium for $3.99/month or $29.99/year. If you’ve previously purchased WhatsVegan Premium, you’ll be able to use the Restore Purchase option in the app to access all features.

So far it seems great! I like the idea of being told if the ingredients are vegan. It seems more reliable than other apps that try to tell you if the product is vegan and most of the time the app doesn't have the product in its data base.

Not a free app. I don't mind paying for a useful app, but promoting a "free" app that can only be used with an expensive subscription is deceptive, a waste of my time, and a poor business model.

Great OCR scanner but doesn't treat multi word ingredients that span two lines as one ingredient and tries to evaluate it as two. Some room for improvement, but otherwise a solid app!!

Thank you for your review! We try to mark multiline ingredients as one whenever possible, but sometimes the OCR analysis treats multi-column labels as if they have one column, which breaks the algorithm. We'll look into it more 🙌
