About this app

Silence Level shows how loud it is around you — in decibels, the moment you open the app.

It is an offline sound meter for your phone: a live dB reading, a timed session with minimum, average and maximum, and a local history. No account, no ads, no analytics and no internet access.

WHAT YOU CAN DO

• Live dB level
See the current loudness, a clear gauge, and a plain-language guide from “very quiet” to “dangerously loud”.

• Live waveform
Watch the microphone signal so sudden spikes and quiet stretches are easy to spot.

• Measurement session
Start a session and capture minimum, average, maximum and duration.

• History
Save sessions on your device and reopen the chart, time and totals later. Swipe to delete one measurement, or clear the whole history.

• Calibration and smoothing
Nudge the offset to match a reference meter (0.5 dB steps) and choose how steady or reactive the reading feels.

• Light, dark and system theme

PRIVACY

Silence Level works entirely offline and does not request internet access. Audio is not recorded and is never uploaded: short blocks of sound are turned into a single decibel value and discarded from memory immediately.

Microphone access is used only to measure ambient sound level. You can revoke it in Android settings — the app still opens, but measuring is unavailable.

GOOD FOR

• checking how noisy a room, office, cafe or street is
• comparing places and keeping the results
• noticing when it is quiet enough to work, sleep or study

Readings are an estimate from your device microphone, not a certified sound level meter. Accuracy varies by hardware and can be improved with calibration. Do not use the app for occupational safety, medical decisions, legal evidence or any purpose that requires a Class 1 or Class 2 instrument.

Silence Level is a simple way to understand the sound around you — and keep that data on your phone.
