About this app

Memento is a notes and diary app that stays out of your way. You open it, you write, you close it. There are no folders to choose, no tags to apply and no template to fill in — just today's date and a blank line.

What makes it worth keeping is what happens after that.

It notices what you keep coming back to

Every entry you write is read on your own phone and turned into quiet structure: the subjects you mention, the people and places that come up, the things you say you are going to do. None of it is work for you. You just write normally.

After a few weeks, Insights starts showing you things you can check for yourself:

How many entries you wrote this month, and what they were about
The subjects that keep recurring
Things you have said you would do more than once and have not done yet
Whether entries mentioning something read more positively than your average

Every one of these is counted from your own words. If a claim cannot be traced back to real entries, the app does not make it.

A calendar of your own life

The Journal tab is a month grid with a dot on every day you wrote. A year of it is a picture of how much of your life you actually put down. Tap any day to read it back, or to fill in one you missed — entries keep the date you choose.

Write it or say it

Type, or press Speak and talk. Pauses are fine; stop and think as long as you like and it keeps listening. Formatting stays out of the way: type "- " for a bullet, "# " for a heading, "[] " for a checkbox. Attach a photo to any entry.

Search that understands the question

Keyword search runs instantly and offline. You can also ask a question in plain language — "when did I last write about my car?" — and get an answer drawn from the entries that actually mention it.

Private because of how it is built

There is no account and no sign-up. Your entries, photos and recordings are stored on your phone, in this app. There are no ads, no analytics and no trackers.

The optional AI features are switched off when you install it. They stay off until you turn them on in Settings, and the app tells you plainly what leaves your phone if you do.

You can export everything — Markdown, JSON or plain text — at any time, and delete everything from one button. No lock-in.
