The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) is a statutory body formed by the Government of India, under the Act of Parliament, 'Khadi and Village Industries Commission Act of 1956'. It is an apex organization under the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, with regard to khadi and village industries within India, which seeks to - "Plan, Promote, Facilitate, Organize and Assist in the establishment and development of khadi and village industries in the rural areas in coordination with other agencies engaged in rural development wherever necessary." At KVIC, different directorates have been established in order to coordinate the functions like training, marketing & sales, employment, finance & budget and research & development.
To contribute towards Prime Minister's vision of "Aatmnirbhar Bharat", Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has decided to come up with its own official e-Commerce portal to provide digital market to all stakeholders to sell products globally and to popularise Khadi and Village Industries products. A special purpose company has been incorporated i.e. KVIO Ventures Private Limited under public private partnership with Khadi & Village Industries Commission (KVIC) to sell products produced by Khadi & Village Industries Institutions affiliated with KVIC, KVIB, REGP, PMEGP Units, SFURTI clusters or any other unit recognized by KVIC/KVIB under the brand/trademark name of "Khadi India".
