The North Eastern Education Commission (NEEC) is one of the most dynamic commissions under the North East India Regional Bishops’ Council (NEIRBC), serving as the strategic and pastoral arm for Catholic education across the region. Rooted in the Gospel and the social teachings of the Church, the NEEC envisions education as an act of evangelization, empowerment, and human formation.
Operating from the Inspiration Building in Guwahati, the NEEC coordinates Catholic educational institutions across North East India to foster a shared vision, policy direction, and commitment to excellence. It provides formation and leadership programs for school administrators and teachers through workshops, training sessions, and conferences.
The Commission also promotes research and innovation in faith-based and value-centered education, encouraging schools to be centers of learning that form conscience, character, and compassion. Inspired by Laudato Si’, the NEEC advocates educational justice, inclusivity, and ecological responsibility, ensuring that Catholic education contributes meaningfully to sustainable and equitable development.
Through its initiatives—such as leadership training, teacher formation, policy consultation, and regional educational summits—the NEEC upholds the Church’s enduring mission to build a society rooted in faith, integrity, and service. In collaboration with government and civil bodies, it continues to defend the rights of minority and missionary educational institutions, while nurturing generations of learners committed to the common good and nation-building.
