Learn and practice the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea (COLREGS) and maritime Rules of the Road with Watchstander.

Watchstander: CORTA combines Rules of the Road knowledge testing with simulator-based training. Practice randomized questions, review your performance, study the Navigation Rules, and apply what you know in a live ship encounter.

PRACTICE IN THE SIMULATOR

Go beyond multiple-choice questions with scenario-based training inside the Watchstander simulator.

The current Rule 14 Head-on Situation places you underway with an approaching vessel and evaluates how you respond. Use ship controls, radar, and navigation displays to recognize the developing situation, maneuver your vessel, and complete the encounter.

Scenario results provide feedback on your performance and record the activity in your training history.

Watchstander is designed for naval and Coast Guard watchstanders, officer candidates, midshipmen, maritime academy students, merchant mariners, boating students, instructors, and anyone studying COLREGS or preparing for Rules of the Road examinations.
