About the English test and certficate

The EnglishScore test is delivered on a mobile phone, so it requires different security measures and rules.

We use security features such as face monitoring technology through your smartphone’s selfie camera. You must be alone in a quiet place with your whole face clearly in the camera during the test.

These rules help give you and organisations confidence that your results are accurate and reliable.

To take the test and purchase a certificate, you will need to turn on your test security.

Once the test is complete, EnglishScore awards you with an internationally recognised CEFR level from A2 to C1 and a more detailed score between 0 and 599 aligned to the CEFR framework. This is a recognised global standard for describing language levels. You can use your CEFR score to compare results with tests such as IELTS, TOEIC and TOEFL.

The British Council EnglishScore Professional Certificate is recognised by leading employers and education institutions around the world.

Used to use this app for my clients as a cheaper easier alternative for IELTS certificate as an international student guide and it worked wonderfully, now the new update has made the app unusable. since the start of November almost nobody has been getting their certificates, after numerous retakes no matter what they do, change the room, posture, device, account, nothing works! there's always a security issue no matter what they try to fix it.

Don't buy the certificate, it comes with ridiculous photos that make it unusable in a professional context. And getting a refund is nearly impossible; they'll just tell you it's "too late". Save your money. ps: redoing the test is not my ask. since the format of the certificate with the photos is inherently not presentable. I asked for a refund since the certificate serves no actual purpose. But this was refused. Money wasted.

Worst experience. I tried several times to get the certificate but each attempt was rejected because of 'unclear images' taken by my phone even though the pictures were perfectly fine. There’s no proper support or refund mechanism which makes the whole process frustrating. I ended up wasting my money on something that isnt even widely recognized by most institutions. I expected much better from the British Council.
