About the English test and certficate

The EnglishScore test is delivered on a mobile phone, so it requires different security measures and rules.

We use security features such as face monitoring technology through your smartphone’s selfie camera. You must be alone in a quiet place with your whole face clearly in the camera during the test.

These rules help give you and organisations confidence that your results are accurate and reliable.

To take the test and purchase a certificate, you will need to turn on your test security.

Once the test is complete, EnglishScore awards you with an internationally recognised CEFR level from A2 to C1 and a more detailed score between 0 and 599 aligned to the CEFR framework. This is a recognised global standard for describing language levels. You can use your CEFR score to compare results with tests such as IELTS, TOEIC and TOEFL.

The British Council EnglishScore Professional Certificate is recognised by leading employers and education institutions around the world.

I passed the EnglishScore test twice, but both times my certificate was refused. Each time I received the same automatic email saying: "Unfortunately, your certificate cannot be issued. " This is very frustrating. I paid $25 for the test, and when the problem happened, the money was not refunded. Instead, they only gave me a code to repeat the exam. However, when I repeated the test, the exact same problem happened again. I received the same automatic email.

The app will give you similar experience to taking an actual IELTS test. The app has a comprehensive list of test for testing your English skill. And they give you a final score after finishing the test, which will help you know how far your English have progressed before taking an actual IELTS test. The tests are free but they ask you money for the certificate. Other than that this app is very much useful for the intended purpose. I recommend it.

I think the core test is a very solid placement test, much better than those that only focus on grammar. I suppose the LinkedIn badge might be useful but the certificates are not widely recognized yet. I'm not too sure about the grading of the speaking and writing tests either. However, the ES app is a very quick and easy way of getting a placement done. If you can't get a Cambridge English certificate get a certificate from this app.
