Before spending thousands of euros on solar panels, do the math yourself with your bill in front of you.
Almost all solar calculators do the same thing: they multiply the hours of sunlight by the watts you install and show you huge savings. This calculation assumes you consume every kilowatt the moment it's produced, and that doesn't happen in any home.
THE NUMBER NO ONE SHOWS YOU
In simplified compensation for surplus energy, what you feed into the grid is deducted from the energy component of your bill for that month, and never below zero. There's no credit in your favor, it's not carried over to the next month, and it doesn't reduce your contracted power or taxes.
In other words: beyond a certain point, each additional panel produces electricity that you'll get for free. This app calculates that point for your situation and tells you in which months of the year this will happen and how many kilowatt-hours you'll be giving away.
WHAT YOU NEED
Your electricity bill and a couple of details about your home. You can take a picture of the bill, and the artificial intelligence will suggest your consumption, the days in the billing period, and the energy price, or you can enter it by hand if you prefer. Then you choose your province, the direction your roof faces, and how your house is used during the day: if no one is home until the afternoon, it's not the same as if you're working from home or if there's a pool pump running at midday. That detail changes the result more than anything else.
WHERE THE NUMBERS COME FROM
The production figures aren't just a rough estimate: they come from PVGIS, the solar radiation database of the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, with monthly data for all 52 provincial capitals and five different orientations. This data is embedded in the app, so the calculation works offline and is free.
With this information, the app calculates on your phone:
- How much your installation would produce month by month.
- How much you would use immediately and how much would be fed back into the grid.
- How much would you actually save, with the compensation cap already applied?
- How many years would it take to pay for it, in three scenarios: with electricity prices falling, flat, and rising?
And it shows you, next to it, what the calculation in the brochure would have cost, so you can see the difference.
AID AND SUBSIDIES
This app doesn't promise you any. Property tax (IBI) and construction tax (ICIO) rebates and regional subsidies vary by municipality and year, and an app that claims them as accurate will lie to you the following month. There's a field for you to enter any information you've received in writing, and we explain where to check: IDAE (Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving), your regional government, and your local council.
WHAT THIS APP IS NOT
It doesn't sell or install panels. It doesn't recommend installers, panel brands, or energy suppliers, and it doesn't send your information to any company to call you. It's not a technical study or a quote: it's an honest estimate so you arrive at the meeting with the salesperson knowing what questions to ask.
YOUR DATA STAYS ON YOUR PHONE
No account or registration required. Your energy consumption, bill prices, and studies are stored only on your device. The only thing that travels, and only if you request it, is a photo of your bill, from which your ID, bank account details, phone number, and email address are removed beforehand. Entering your data by hand sends nothing.
You can save multiple studies and compare them: with lower power, a different budget, or a different energy focus. You can also generate a PDF report with the assumptions at a glance, so you can review them carefully or bring them along when you're shown the figures.
Free app, with ads. No subscriptions or in-app purchases.
Are solar panels worth it? Your bill, your roof, and real savings, without the hype.
