About this app

Full description

Learn2Scroll turns the time you spend scrolling short videos into quick study breaks. While you swipe through Reels, Shorts, TikTok or any other app you choose, a small cow slides in now and then with a few flashcards. These can be language exercises, cards made from your own PDFs, or decks you bring yourself.

How it works

Pick the apps you want Learn2Scroll to watch and how often you'd like a break. Time in all of those apps counts towards the same break. When your interval is reached, a small cow slides in from the left of the screen and moos.

Then just keep scrolling. Your next swipe up brings a study card in, rising with your swipe the way the next video would. Nothing opens on a timer by itself: the card only arrives with your own swipe.

A break is 3, 5 or 10 cards, whichever you choose. Swipe up through them as you would through videos. After the last one, your next swipe takes you straight back to where you were. Want more? Tap the cow to keep the cards coming, and tap it again to let the break end.

Would you rather decide for yourself? Switch to "Out loud" or "Silent" in the cow settings. The cow still appears, with or without a moo, and you start a break by pressing it and swiping up.

Swipe-to-study is the default for new installs on Android 9 and above. It isn't available on older versions of Android.

A short hands-on tutorial the first time you open the app walks you through the whole thing before you meet it in a real feed.

Where the cow appears

On Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts and TikTok, Learn2Scroll recognises the video screen on your device. The cow only appears there, not while you're reading comments, typing or looking at a profile. In any other app you select, it may appear anywhere in that app.

What you can study

Language cards: ready-made decks from A1 to B2, presented by the Cowfluencer, our cow host. You can learn any of 11 languages from any of the others: English, Spanish, German, French, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Turkish, Hindi, Japanese, Korean and Simplified Chinese. English speakers can also learn Dutch. Tap a word in an example sentence to see what it means.

Your own PDFs: turn a PDF into cards made from its own text and images. You can also have an optional on-device AI write summaries and questions from it. The AI runs entirely on your phone, is free, and needs a one-time download of about 230 MB. It currently supports English, Arabic, Chinese, French, German, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. AI-written cards can contain mistakes, so check them against your document.

Your own cards: import CSV or TSV files and Anki decks, or paste in a Quizlet set, your notes, or a quiz written by the AI assistant you already use. You can mix several decks into one study session.

Private by design

Your progress, settings and materials stay on your device. You don't need an account, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else.

Permissions

Display over other apps: needed to show the cow and your study cards over the apps you selected.

Accessibility service: Learn2Scroll uses Android's Accessibility service to tell which app is open, how the screen is laid out, and when you swipe to the next video. That lets a study card arrive with your swipe and stay out of the way while you're typing or reading comments. It never reads the words on your screen and never taps, types or scrolls for you. Nothing it sees leaves your device. The app explains this and asks for your agreement before you turn it on.

You can turn either permission off at any time in Android Settings.
