Short news summaries you can read in a minute. Gist turns the day's US news into a deck of swipeable cards — each a ~60-word neutral summary with the outlet's name and a one-tap link to the full story. No account, no sign-in: open it and start reading.

A daily news briefing built for time-poor readers who want to catch up in a few minutes — no clickbait, no spin, no emotional headlines. Swipe through an endless deck drawn from multiple reputable US outlets, switch sections with the tabs up top, and tap "Read full story" whenever you want the original reporting.

A quick first-run setup lets you pick a few starting sections, then gets out of the way — there is no login wall.

What Gist does not do: it does not reproduce article text — summaries are short neutral paraphrase, and the source name and outbound link are always shown so credit goes to the original outlet. It does not ask you to log in. News is US-region for now. Supported by non-intrusive ads; ad personalisation uses Google AdMob, which may use device identifiers per Google's Privacy Policy.

Privacy: Gist collects no personal data and has no account system. Your bookmarks, read history, chosen sections, theme, reading streak, daily-quiz progress, and reminder time are stored only on your device, and recently-viewed stories are cached on your device so you can read them offline. The app reads news cards from a public, read-only service. Card images are loaded directly from the news outlets' own servers, so those outlets may see your device's IP address when an image loads — standard for any app that shows web images. Gist is a news-reading tool and does not provide medical, financial, or legal advice.

What’s new

Adds the daily quiz prompt, which never appeared before: it now shows up once you have read a few cards, instead of only from the next app launch.

Also carries the previous release fixes: smaller splash icon corrected, download size cut by a third, consistent card text, and smoother category swiping.
