Take full control of your sound, and tailor it exactly to your liking. Choose from an array of new presets to adjust the equalizer. Go heavy on the bass when listening to electronic music, or switch to clearer vocals for your favorite podcasts. You can go even more granular with the custom EQ feature and tweak the sound from scratch. Use the Fairbuds apps to play around with a multi-band equalizer, and create the perfect sound profile for yourself.

You can also use the Fairbuds app to make sure your device's firmware is always up-to-date. Get notifications when a new update is available, and make sure your Fairphone audio product is always performing at its peak.

I was gifted Gen2 XL recently. Absolute barebones app. Mediocre sound. Barebones EQ! Can't even save or load a custom present. Can't load a built-in Preset and adjust it to your liking. Can't rename your headphones. NO AUTO TURN OFF. Can't adjust ANY actions of the joystick or the button. There is no such thing as recalibrating of ANC, or any adjusting of ANC. (OK that's an advanced feature. But it's EXPEXTED in a modern PREMIUM). Just open-source the API and we will take care of it!!

Bought the XL gen 2 headphones on release day. App is still laggy and buggy. EQ is basically useless. Contracted support on day one and they just ignored it. Never heard back. Edit: The app started crashing immediately after opening it. Clearing data fixed it, but it's still basically unusable.

As of 3/21/26 the app crashes completely upon opening, before that though it was a very underwhelming experience. Very style over substance with very limited options as well as poor interactions with both the Fairbuds and the Fairbuds XL. Shame that the overall software experience is so bad because the hardware is decent enough.
