About this app

A coding platform for the whole family. Parents stay in control. Kids learn to ship real software.

algo.kids is built for two audiences in one app. Parents (18+) create the account, manage billing, approve every publish, and review every Algo conversation from a dedicated dashboard. Kids ages 3 to 17 build real software by talking to Algo, an AI tutor that only discusses coding. Every conversation is logged for the parent. Zero third-party trackers in the kid app. Kids never type an email or a password.

A 14-year journey from "I made it move" to "I shipped it" -- with a grown-up watching the whole way.

FOUR WORLDS, ONE CONTINUOUS ARC

· Wonder (ages 3 to 5). Voice-first. No reading, no typing. Kids tap and drag to remix animated stories and tap-to-play games.

· Spark (ages 6 to 9). Voice plus colorful blocks. Algo builds from a prompt, the kid drags blocks to tweak. Ships mini games and animated stories.

· Forge (ages 9 to 13). Real Python and JavaScript in guided chunks, with a side-by-side blocks-and-code view. Ships working web apps and interactive math toys.

· Lab (ages 13 to 17). Multi-file projects. Kids architect and review AI-generated code, then deploy to a real subdomain on algo.kids.

FOR PARENTS · THE GROWN-UP DASHBOARD

The parent surface is a full app in itself, not a settings panel. You sign in once with your email, then use it to:

· See exactly what your child built, what they typed and what Algo said back.
· Search 100% of Algo's chat with your kid. Always available.
· Approve or reject every Lab publish before it goes live on a real subdomain.
· Pause your kid's session from your phone with one tap. The current session ends within a minute.
· Receive safety alerts within five minutes when a flagged moment happens. Severity 1 to 5, category labeled, retained until you acknowledge.
· Manage billing, add or remove kids, and export or delete all data from the parent screen or by email. Honored within 30 days.

SAFETY POSTURE, BUILT IN

· No email. No password. Kids log in with a 6-digit code you give them.
· Algo only talks about coding. Off-topic gets a warm redirect. Sensitive moments route to "talk to a grown-up about that" and flag for the parent.
· Algo never claims to be human.
· A safety classifier runs on every input and every Algo output as a separate model pass.
· Every line of kid code runs in an isolated microVM. Broken code cannot break us, or them.
· No ads. No retargeting. No analytics SDKs on kid surfaces.
· No kid-to-kid messaging. No DMs, no comments. Showcase wall is read-only and moderated.
· No uploads from kids. No camera access. No image, voice or video uploads at launch.

COPPA, GDPR-K AND BEYOND

· Verifiable parental consent before any child account becomes active.
· Data minimization. We collect display name, avatar color, project state and Algo prompts/replies. Birth date is scrubbed to year-only within seven days. No kid email, phone, location, photos or contacts.
· Conversations stay searchable for 90 days, archived to 365, then auto-deleted unless safety-flagged.
· We do not use kid conversations to train AI models. Separate opt-in required.
· Schools get a FERPA-aligned DPA before any student data flows.

PLANS

· Free tier with Wonder and Spark, a daily Algo limit and a small project cap.
· Paid plans unlock all four worlds, lift the daily limit and remove the cap.
· Family plan covers up to four kids with sibling leaderboards.
· Studio plan for schools includes a teacher dashboard, assignment templates and SSO with Google Classroom and Microsoft Teams Education.
