About this app

The Test is done at many different frequency so to produce the graph of the audio path response.
The purpose of the Test is to compare the audio path gain of a system composed of an amplifier and loudspeaker but you can test also only a loudspeaker or earphone. The phone generate a list of tones(frequencies), the signal is acquired from the microphone and the relative power is calculated for each frequency. Please note that 0dB is an undetermined value so the measures are relative and not absolute values.

A teacher used this App to do an experiment in his class, he was able to find the speed of sound using a phone and a cardboard tube. Determining the loudest frequencies, then these are the resonance frequencies and will lead to the speed of sound because the length of the tube is related to the wavelength of the resonant frequencies.

The tests are in the internal directory of the App to improve compatibility with Android 10 (Android/data/com.fbrlcu.audiotest)

I have tested it against a few other apps that I have found to be working properly and this one is very close but does differ slightly in how it records the data. This pulses tones at specific Hz and it could read +13 or -0.6db with all Hz around it reading steady at +4db (you won't know that till it's set to read in 1Hz increments around each oddball result) so you can't just do 1 test and believe the results. Analog sweeps are the best way to plot output a smooth sound will give fluid plots

This app is a breath of fresh air in the audio testing category. While many apps in this space are overly complex, this one nails it with its straightforward approach. It does exactly what I need without all the unnecessary bells and whistles. Highly recommend!

Useful to check the frequency response of headphones. not sure how precise it really is, but looks good so far.
