About this app

Most weather apps tell you rain is likely this afternoon. FieldCast is weather for agriculture: it tells you the chance hour by hour, how much is actually coming, and how far apart the models are — so you can decide whether to start a field operation or hold off.

Built for farming decisions — when to plant, when to spray, when to cut hay, when to start harvest.

RAIN, BY THE HOUR AND BY THE MODEL

Rain chance is graphed across every hour of the day, and every weather model is drawn on it. You see when the chance climbs and when it drops off, instead of one number covering the whole afternoon.

Forecast rain amounts from every model, side by side, so you can see if one model is predicting a much higher rain amount than the others.

Look ahead across the two-week forecast for the run of dry days a hay crop needs.

The comparison is grounded in your own field's weather data.

HOURLY, BUILT FOR SPRAY DECISIONS

Temperature, humidity, wind speed and direction, rain chance and inversion risk, hour by hour, with the peak wind gust on each day's forecast. Inversion chance is the one most weather apps leave out and the one that decides whether a spray stays where you put it.

DRY-DOWN AND HARVEST TIMING

Crop moisture projected forward from temperature and humidity, so you can see how a standing crop dries in the field over the coming days and time the combine to it. Corn and soybeans, morning and evening, two weeks out.

RADAR YOU CAN SCRUB THROUGH

Observed radar covers roughly the past two hours from NOAA's MRMS network. A separate futurecast view shows the HRRR model's predicted radar out to about 18 hours from its latest run. One at a time, full screen, with the map holding your position when you switch.

THE REST OF THE FIELD PICTURE

Rainfall totals for your location, corrected against nearby gauges.

Evapotranspiration outlooks for irrigation timing.

Crop disease pressure modelled from recent temperature and humidity.

Official severe weather warnings from the National Weather Service, shown while the app is open.

HOW LOCATION WORKS

FieldCast Weather uses your device's precise location to produce the forecast, radar, rainfall and disease risk for exactly the field you are standing in. That is the app's main purpose and its central feature. You do not have to grant it: the app opens on a default location and works completely without it, and you can search for any US place by name at any time. Location is used only while the app is open. It is never sold, and it is never linked to your identity.

WHAT IT DOES NOT DO

No account. No sign-in. No ads. No subscriptions. No notifications of any kind — warnings appear while the app is open, so do not rely on it to wake you.

COVERAGE

United States only. The radar, rainfall and warning data sources are US networks.
