About this app

Jatra is a fuel, service and running-cost log for your motorcycle. Log every refuel and every service, and Jatra works out your real mileage, when the next service is due, and what a kilometre actually costs you.

No account. No cloud. No ads. No analytics. Your records stay on your phone and the app works the same in airplane mode.


TRUE MILEAGE, NOT PUMP MATH
Mileage is measured full-tank to full-tank, the only way it is honest. Partial fills are folded into the tank they belong to instead of producing a made-up figure, and a tank you know was incomplete can be marked so it stays out of your averages.


A WARNING WHEN MILEAGE DROPS
If a tank falls below your usual figure by more than you allow, Jatra says so. Mileage sliding is usually the first sign of something mechanical — tyre pressure, air filter, chain tension. The comparison runs against the median of your last five reliable tanks, so one unusual week does not set it off.


SERVICE PREDICTION FROM YOUR OWN LOG
Add the jobs you care about — engine oil, chain lube, brake pads, whatever you track — with a distance or time interval. Jatra tells you how far you have to go, flags what is due or overdue, and can post a reminder on your phone. Reminders are worked out on the device from your own history; nothing is sent anywhere.


WHAT A KILOMETRE REALLY COSTS
Three figures, side by side: fuel cost, running cost (fuel plus servicing, parts and fixed costs), and true cost with depreciation included. There is a trip estimator too — enter a distance and see what the ride will cost at your own rates, not a national average.


EXPENSES AND DOCUMENTS
Insurance, tax token, fitness, a new helmet — anything that is not fuel or a service. Documents with an expiry date show the days remaining.


STATISTICS THAT ARE ACTUALLY READABLE
Mileage over time, monthly spend by category, distance per month, and the fuel price you have been paying. Best and worst tank, total spent, distance covered, days owned.


OPTIONAL GPS RIDE TRACKING
Off by default. Switch it on and Jatra traces your route, drawing it over an OpenStreetMap map with distance, duration and speed. Location permission is only ever requested after you turn this on, and recorded routes can be deleted on their own without touching the rest of your history.


YOUR DATA STAYS YOURS
Export a full backup to a plain JSON file you can read, or spreadsheets in CSV. Import a backup on any device — Jatra validates the whole file before it changes anything, so a bad import cannot half-apply. Everything is on your phone, which also means uninstalling deletes it, so take a backup first.


MULTIPLE BIKES
Each bike keeps its own odometer, units and currency. Switch between them anywhere in the app, archive the ones you no longer ride.

PERMISSIONS, PLAINLY
Jatra requests nothing on first launch. Notifications are asked for only if you turn on service reminders. Location is asked for only if you turn on ride tracking. Internet is used for exactly one thing: loading the map tiles behind a recorded ride from OpenStreetMap. Every other feature works with the radio off.


OPEN SOURCE
Jatra is free software under the GNU GPL v3. The source is public, so "no analytics, no server" is something you can check rather than something you have to take on trust.
