About this app

FireOps Engineer is a fire pump pressure calculator and fireground reference tool for apparatus engineers, driver/operators, pump operators, firefighters, instructors, and fire academy students.

The app simplifies common fire service hydraulic calculations by allowing users to build hose layouts using hose length, diameter, flow, nozzle pressure, appliances, and elevation.

Use FireOps Engineer for pump training, apparatus drills, promotional exam preparation, classroom instruction, and pre-incident planning.

PUMP PRESSURE CALCULATOR

Build common hose layouts and calculate estimated pump discharge pressure. Calculations may include:

• Friction loss
• Hose length and diameter
• Water flow
• Nozzle pressure
• Elevation pressure
• Appliance loss
• Wyes and branched lines
• Multiple attack lines
• Standpipe operations
• Master streams

MULTIPLE HOSE LINES

Create and compare multiple hose lines operating from the same apparatus. Each line can have its own hose length, diameter, nozzle, flow, elevation, and appliance setup.

FireOps Engineer helps identify the line with the greatest pressure requirement.

WYE AND BRANCHED OPERATIONS

Create layouts using gated wyes and divided hose lines. Configure each branch with different hose lengths, nozzles, flows, and pressure requirements.

Use these tools to practice residential, apartment, commercial, extended-stretch, leader-line, backup-line, and wildland operations.

MASTER STREAM TOOLS

Review deck gun and portable monitor operations. Estimate flow, nozzle pressure, friction loss, and pump discharge pressure for high-flow operations.

STANDPIPE AND FDC OPERATIONS

Estimate pump pressure for standpipe, sprinkler, and fire department connection operations. Account for hose friction loss, floor elevation, nozzle pressure, and appliance loss.

FIREGROUND TOOLS

Additional tools may include:

• Friction loss
• Nozzle reaction
• Hydrant flow
• Relay pumping
• Standpipe pressure
• Sprinkler and FDC pressure
• Foam operations
• Tender or tanker shuttle planning
• Master stream calculations
• Solid-bore nozzle calculations
• Elevation pressure
• Rural water supply

DEPARTMENT SETUP

Customize FireOps Engineer around the equipment and operating practices used by your department. Configure hose sizes, coefficients, preconnected hose lengths, fog and smooth-bore nozzles, nozzle flows, nozzle pressures, apparatus names, and department notes.

DIGITAL PUMP CARD

Keep frequently used hose, nozzle, flow, and pressure information available in one place. Review common preconnects, friction loss information, smooth-bore nozzle data, apparatus notes, and department references.

BUILT FOR TRAINING

Use FireOps Engineer for:

• Driver/operator training
• Engineer promotional preparation
• Fire academy instruction
• Company drills
• Apparatus familiarization
• Instructor demonstrations
• Fireground simulations
• Hydraulic calculation practice
• Reviewing pump charts
• Pre-incident planning

FireOps Engineer is designed to make pump calculations easier to understand.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTICE

FireOps Engineer is intended for training, education, planning, and reference purposes. Calculations are estimates and may not account for every condition present during an emergency.

Always follow your department’s standard operating procedures, approved pump charts, manufacturer instructions, local policies, training, and incident command direction.

Pump operators must monitor intake and discharge pressures, confirm adequate water supply and fire flow, observe hose and appliance limitations, and adjust operations based on actual fireground conditions.

FireOps Engineer is not affiliated with or endorsed by any fire department, apparatus manufacturer, equipment manufacturer, standards organization, or government agency.
