About this app

The Department of Hunting, Fishing and Wildlife of the canton of Valais offers a mobile application to record fishing events and catches.

The app allows fishermen to record their catches online. There is no need to complete catch statistics on paper. It also offers instant analysis of personal fishing events.

The application allows you to obtain more detailed information on fishing activities than statistics on paper:

- Date and duration of the activity
- Fish species caught
- Fish size
- Reason for releasing the fish
- Empty sockets

Empty captures as well as the date and duration of the activity are automatically recorded using a so-called start/stop function. This function allows the CPUE (Catch per Unit of Effort) to be calculated in more detail and therefore more meaningfully in the future. As additional options, anglers can specify the size of the fish and the bait used. Personal fishing activities are presented in individual catch statistics (e.g. number of fish, waters fished or success rate, etc.).
