About this app

Lightrack was made to solve a common problem in location-sharing apps: they broadcast your location, using precious cellphone data, GPS and, therefore, battery life, even while no one is actually looking at it!
The app shares your location on-demand: it will only start broadcasting your location when the users you have granted permission request it, saving loads of resources.

absolutely phenomenal app. make sure to watch the YouTube video to get an idea how it works as the UI isn't as intuitive as it could be. However, that's part of the charm. it's a phone tracker and THATS IT. no stealing your data or trying to upsell you features etc... if only all apps were like this.

hey Flamethrower. I'm putting 5 stars for effort, it's nice to see young people like you doing stuff like this and having the patience to upload it (I saw how long it took in your video). sadly the app isn't working for us, I added my mom to the app and location keeps throwing at 0.000... 0.000... coordinates in the middle of an ocean. idk if I can add something that helps though ! :)

As the location is deleted every time for privacy, it defaults to [0, 0] before the first refresh (which should take 5 seconds). If it stayed like that for longer and said "no location available", that issue should be fixed with the latest update!

Found this person on youtube and honestly he is the smartest person have ever seen. The idea for an ACTUALLY lightweight tracking app was amazing, the ui could do with improving but given it was written by one person during an exam period it's understandable and very impressive. Anyway, great app.
