Turn speech into clear, searchable text without uploading your recordings for transcription. Scribr is a private, on-device transcription and translation app for Android.
Record audio, import existing files, transcribe, translate, organize, and export from one place. After downloading the required models, transcription and translation work offline without an account.

PRIVATE, ON-DEVICE TRANSCRIPTION
Your audio is processed directly on your phone. Scribr does not send recordings to a cloud transcription service.
Choose from multiple speech models based on your device, available storage, preferred languages, and accuracy needs. Use automatic language detection or select the spoken language yourself.

TRANSCRIPTION AND TRANSLATION TOGETHER
Read the original transcript and translation together without constantly switching views. Playback-synced highlighting follows the current sentence while the audio plays, with an option to follow automatically or scroll freely.
Translation runs on-device after the required language model has been downloaded. Timings are preserved for synchronized reading and subtitle export.

RECORD OR IMPORT
Record directly in Scribr or import supported audio and video files from Files, WhatsApp, Telegram, and other apps.
Start recording faster using the Android app shortcut or optional home-screen recording widget.

FLEXIBLE EXPORT
Export a single recording or select multiple recordings at once. Choose whether to export the transcription, translation, or both together.
Available formats include TXT, Markdown, SRT subtitles, PDF, JSON, CSV, and HTML. Include timestamps when needed, and export bilingual SRT files with the original and translated text.

ORGANIZE YOUR LIBRARY
Keep recordings easy to find with folders, favorites, filters, and search. Scribr stores recordings, transcripts, translations, and timing information together.
Select multiple recordings to transcribe, translate, export, move to a folder, re-transcribe with another downloaded model, or delete.

TRASH AND RECOVERY
Deleted recordings move to Trash for 30 days before permanent removal. Restore the recording together with its transcript, translation, and folder placement.

BACKUP, RESTORE, AND ENCRYPTION
Create portable backups containing your recordings and text, then restore them when moving to another device.
Optional password encryption protects recordings, transcripts, translations, and backups. Encrypted backups use Scribr's portable .scribr format. Your encryption password cannot be recovered if forgotten.
An optional biometric app lock can add fingerprint or face protection.

BACKGROUND PROCESSING
Continue using other apps while speech models download or transcriptions run. Progress notifications keep you informed.
Playback controls are available from notifications and the lock screen, making it easy to pause, resume, or move through a recording.
