About this app
Misinformation is a real challenge online, isn't it? I built Verity, an AI-assisted Android app, to help you understand the full picture behind the content you see and hear. My aim is to empower you to navigate today's complex information landscape more critically.
Spotted something online that gives you pause – perhaps on Reddit, Twitter/X, or shared from another app? Verity makes it easy to investigate. Just use your phone's built-in share function to send content straight to Verity; it integrates seamlessly with the Android share menu for quick analysis. You can also open Verity and ask directly using natural language – it's designed to understand your queries.
What Verity delivers is a deeper understanding. Instead of quick judgments, my goal is to arm you with comprehensive context, explore the nuances of the information, highlight potential perspectives, and provide clear insights into its reliability. And because seeing the groundwork matters, Verity always shows you the sources used in its analysis so you can explore them further yourself.
So, how does Verity achieve this? It analyzes text, or even audio from sources like videos, using advanced AI models (LLMs). These AIs are grounded by cross-referencing with verified, fact-checked content to provide you with solid, well-supported insights. When existing verified content isn't readily available for a new or obscure claim, a specialized AI agent then carefully scans the internet, trained to select only what appear to be legitimate and diverse sources to build its analysis.
In an era of constant data tracking, Verity is built from the ground up to respect your privacy. Outside of a simple email login (for security purposes only) and noting the time of your query, Verity itself preserves absolutely none of your personal information. While its AI may query upstream cloud services for content related to your questions, your identity is completely hidden and never revealed. The content you share is also obscured during most of the processing. My belief is that fighting misinformation should be easy, effective, and private!
Verity is a passion project, and I'm committed to continually improving it and adding new features, such as expanded social media sharing support (TikTok and Bluesky are on the horizon!). If you find Verity valuable in making sense of the digital world, I hope it becomes a trusted tool for you.
