About this app

Luna turns a smartphone you already own into a bedside sleep clock for your child, and puts you in control of it from your own phone.

HOW IT WORKS

Luna is one app with two modes. Install it on an old phone, stand it by your child's bed and pick Alarm Clock mode. Install it on your own phone and pick Parental Device mode. Pair the two with a 4 digit code and you are set up.

WHAT YOUR CHILD SEES

A big, clear clock and an animated moon character that shows whether it is still night or time to get up. A progress bar fills through the night, so a child who cannot yet read a clock can still see how much of the night is left.

NIGHTLIGHT

The edge of the screen glows in the colour you pick, from 12 presets. Set the brightness, and dim the clock itself so it does not light up the whole room.

BEDTIME SCHEDULES

Build repeating schedules: a bedtime, how long the night lasts and which days it applies to. Weeknights and weekends can be different. Each schedule turns the nightlight and the morning alarm on or off independently.

NAPS

Start a nap from your phone or from the clock itself. Anywhere from 1 to 180 minutes, with an optional nightlight and an optional alarm at the end.

WAKE-UP SOUNDS

Seven alarm tones and eight wake-up music tracks. The volume ramps up gradually from silence, so nobody is startled awake. One tone is built into the app and works with no connection at all.

A DEDICATED DEVICE

On Android you can set Luna as the device's launcher. It then starts when the phone boots, comes back by itself after an update, and your child cannot wander off into other apps.

FITS A 3D PRINTED CASE

Adjust the screen padding and the corner radius so the display lines up neatly inside a custom case.

PRIVACY

Your phone talks to the clock over your own Wi-Fi. The connection is encrypted, pairing is confirmed with a code shown on the clock, and there is no account to create. Your child's schedule, their nap, their nightlight and their name stay on your devices. None of it is sent to us and none of it is stored in the cloud.

FREE

Luna is free. No ads, no subscription required, and every feature in the app today is available to everyone. You can chip in to support development if you want to, and it adds your first name to the supporters list in the app. It is a contribution, not an upgrade.

WHAT YOU NEED

Two devices on the same Wi-Fi network: one to be the clock, one to control it. The clock device needs Android 6.0 or later, or iOS 15 or later.

Luna speaks English, Spanish, Portuguese, German and French.
