About this app

Flux Vario uses the accelerometer and gyroscope to give a much faster response than is possible with the barometer alone. This is the reason an app can rival a dedicated instrument. Additionally the sound is fully customisable, smooth and pleasant.

Barometers in phones are typically high quality. Common examples include the Bosch BMP380, InvenSense ICP10101 and STMicroelectronics LPS22H, with noise densities in the range 2-10cm/√Hz. This data is combined with accelerometer and gyroscope data using a high-order complementary filter. The result is a vario that instantly and accurately responds to changes in climb rate. You immediately hear when you enter or exit a thermal core, and this corresponds to the feeling you get through the harness. This is essential to maximising efficiency in thermals, particularly in weaker conditions.

Additionally:
🪂 Fully customise the sound.
🪂 Import sound settings from other devices.
🪂 See climb rate, average climb rate, altitude and ground speed.
🪂 See track and heading on the compass view.
🪂 See pitch and bank on the attitude indicator (artificial horizon).
🪂 Practise climbing in the thermal simulator.

Primarily Flux Vario is a quality audio vario with an instant response.
