About this app

Bhumi converts between 31 Indian land units and measures a plot from its sides — entirely offline, with no sign-up and no "Calculate" button. Type a number and the answer is already there.

A BIGHA IS NOT A BIGHA EVERYWHERE
In Uttar Pradesh a bigha is about 27,000 sq ft. In West Bengal it is 14,400. In Rajasthan the kachha bigha is smaller again, and the hill states differ once more. Bhumi carries the regional value for each, so pick your own state and the number you get is the one your district actually uses. Biswa and katha vary the same way, and are handled the same way.

SEE THE PLOT YOU ARE MEASURING
Enter the sides of a plot and Bhumi draws it to scale as you type. The corners are lettered A, B, C, so which measurement belongs to which side is answered by looking, not by remembering.

• Rectangle, triangle and four-sided plots
• Irregular plots of five to eight corners — enter each side and the diagonals from corner A, and the area is exact
• Measure in feet, metres or yards
• If the measurements cannot form a real plot, Bhumi says which one to change and what it must come under, instead of quietly showing a wrong number

A built-in reference explains every unit: what it equals, where it is used, and how much it changes from state to state. Search it by any name people use — gajam finds gaj, satak finds decimal, khata finds katha.

The whole app, including every unit name and explanation, in all three. Switch language any time from the top of the screen. Bengali units are covered properly: 20 katha to a bigha, 16 chatak to a katha, and the older gonda, kora, kranti and til that still appear in old record-of-rights entries.

Every figure in this app is checked against the relationship that defines it, not just copied. Even so, regional unit values are widely-used references and can vary by district. For anything legal or for registry purposes, confirm the exact local value with your district revenue office.
