One task a day. Not a to-do list you shorten — one thing you actually finish.
A minimalist daily focus app for anyone who opens their task manager, feels the overwhelm, and closes it again.
Most to-do apps let you collect work. Collecting feels productive, so the list grows, and choosing becomes its own exhausting decision. Some days you stare at fourteen items and close the app having done none of them.
One Thing removes the list entirely. You choose a single task for today. When it's done, the day is done — the app doesn't hand you an empty box and ask for another. There is nowhere to put a second task, so there is nothing to decide except starting.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Write down your one thing.
2. Give it a timer, count the time openly, or skip timing altogether.
3. Finish it. That's the whole app.
A FOCUS TIMER THAT ACTUALLY WORKS
Pick 15, 25, 45 or 60 minutes, or set your own. You get an alert five minutes before time runs out, and again when it does — even if the app is closed and your screen is off.
The countdown is tracked against the real clock, so it stays exactly right whether you switch apps, take a call, or restart your phone. No drifting, no silently wrong timers.
Run over and nothing is lost: the timer keeps counting, and the task still counts as finished. Finishing late is finishing.
FOR THE DAYS THE OVERWHELM WINS
Choosing is one problem. Starting is another. Alongside your task you can note the smallest first move — the one action that needs no plan — and the app keeps that in front of you instead of the whole mountain.
Set something yesterday and never got to it? The app asks whether it is still today's one thing. Picked the wrong thing? Drop it: it doesn't count as done and it doesn't touch your streak. No app should make you lie to it.
A STREAK YOU CAN SEE
Every finished day fills a dot on a five-week calendar, so the run you are building is visible at a glance — along with the gaps, which is what makes it worth protecting. A habit tracker for exactly one habit.
Today always counts as in progress, so your streak is never at risk while the day is still young. It breaks only once a whole day has gone by with nothing finished.
No points, no badges, no leaderboards. One evening nudge if you have not finished yet, and silence once you have. Just the days you showed up.
SHARE IT, IF YOU WANT TO
One tap turns a finished day into an image — your task, the time it took, your calendar and your streak — ready for Instagram, WhatsApp, or wherever you post. Drawn on your phone, and nothing leaves it until you choose where it goes.
YOUR NUMBERS, NOT OURS
Tasks finished. Days completed in the last thirty. Total time focused, your average session, and the weekday you finish most often. Every completed task is kept in a history you can scroll, delete from, or export as a CSV file and keep.
Statistics and CSV export are subscription features elsewhere. Free here, and staying free.
GENUINELY PRIVATE — VERIFIABLY
Not a promise. It is how the app is built:
• No internet permission at all. Android will not let the app open a network connection, so your data cannot go anywhere — not to us, not to anyone.
• No account, no sign-up, no email.
• No ads, no analytics, no crash reporting, no third-party SDKs.
• No cloud backup, so your task text is never copied into your Google account.
• The only permission it asks for is notifications, and you can say no.
Your tasks stay on your phone. That is the entire data policy.
FREE, AND STAYING FREE
No subscription, no trial, no locked features. Nothing to run means no business reason to ever put this behind a paywall.
