Your PC's files, on your phone - without uploading them to anyone's cloud.
Folderbird connects your phone to your own Windows PC (or a Linux machine, currently in beta). You browse that computer's folders, search them, preview documents and pull down the one file you actually need, over an encrypted connection. The files stay where they are: they are not copied into cloud storage, and they are not kept on our servers.
HOW IT WORKS
1. Install the free Folderbird app on the computer you want to reach, and sign in.
2. Sign in on your phone with the same account.
3. That computer shows up in the app whenever it is switched on and online.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Browse any drive or folder, with a drive picker and tappable breadcrumbs
- Search a computer by file name, or search inside the contents of files
- Preview before you download: text, photos, PDFs, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Edit a text file on your phone and save it straight back to the computer
- Download a file to your phone, then open or share it like any other file
- Upload photos and documents from your phone into any folder on that computer
- Create a new folder without getting up
- Send a file from anywhere: pick Folderbird in any app's share sheet to drop a photo or document straight into a folder on your PC
- See at a glance which of your computers are online, slow, or offline
SIGNING IN
Sign-in happens in your browser, so your password never passes through the app. The access key the app receives is kept in Android's encrypted storage, protected by the device Keystore.
PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS
Your files are not stored in cloud storage and are not kept on our servers. A transfer happens only when you ask for a specific file, and it travels over an encrypted connection.
The app asks for two permissions and no more: internet access, and permission to see whether you have a connection. It does not ask for your location, your camera, your microphone, your contacts, or access to the files already on your phone. There are no ads, no analytics and no third-party trackers of any kind.

- The Folderbird app installed and running on the computer you want to reach
- That computer switched on and connected to the internet
This app is a companion to your own computer. With no computer paired to your account, there is nothing for it to show.
